Do’s and Don’t’s

Do:

  • Get inspiration from online examples
  • Create a video when it's one of the application requirements
  • Look professional in front of the camera, wear appropriate clothing
  • Research the company/position you're applying for
  • Write a script, prepare notes
  • Get feedback from your peers, family, friends, co-workers (the more feedback the better)
  • Show your personality
  • Showcase relevant skills, expertise
  • Have fun!

  Don’ts

  • Don't send out your video resume if you got feedback that it might be offensive
  • If you're not happy with the result, the quality is not up to your standard don’t send it out (sometimes it might do more harm than good)
  • Don't try to include everything you've done
  • Don't just read out your resume
  • Don't criticise your previous employer
  • Don't get too personal
